Resources

At SJEDS, our enrichment resources including Physical Education, Music, Art, the Tech Hub and Library, Kingdom Theatre, and Spanish support the development of the whole child. These programs offer students opportunities to move, create, explore, and express themselves in meaningful and age appropriate ways. Rooted in joyful learning, each resource helps build confidence, curiosity, and lifelong skills beyond the core classroom experience.
Physical Education

At SJEDS, our Physical Education program fosters a lifelong love of movement, teamwork, and healthy living through age-appropriate, engaging activities that build fundamental skills, coordination, and sportsmanship. Led by PE Coach Adrian Cherry (acherry@sjeds.org), and Assistant PE Coach Scott Badgett (sbadgett@sjeds.org), the program emphasizes skill development, strategic play, and lifelong fitness habits. Students are encouraged to stay active, respect others, and enjoy fitness in a fun, supportive environment.”

Music

At SJEDS, music is a vital part of school life, beginning at age three and continuing through weekly chapel services, classroom activities, and hands-on instruction that builds rhythm, pitch, and expression. Guided by music teacher Kathy Dozier, kdozier@sjeds.org, students explore a variety of instruments and by sixth grade develop the skills to read music and play with confidence.

Art

At SJEDS, visual arts instruction begins in Pre-K3 and builds each year as students explore creative expression through a variety of materials and techniques. Art teacher Judy Bryan, jbryan@sjeds.org, helps students connect art to other subjects and participate in meaningful traditions like creating a handcrafted nativity set throughout their elementary years.

Library & Tech Hub

At SJEDS, the Library & Tech Hub inspire a love of reading and digital literacy by providing students with engaging opportunities for students to discover books, interact with technology, and build research skills using a variety of media. Under the guidance of Melanie Hooks, mhooks@sjeds.org, students develop critical skills and confidence through personalized book selections, interactive library experiences, and hands-on technology use.

Kingdom Theatre

Kingdom Theatre at SJEDS brings biblical stories to life through drama, helping students engage with scripture in a meaningful and creative way. Led by Deacon Katie Bennett (kbennett@sjeds.org), the program fosters spiritual growth, confidence, collaboration, and personal reflection as students explore their place in God’s ongoing story.

Spanish

The Spanish program at SJEDS introduces students to language and culture through fun, interactive lessons that include music, stories, and games. Led by Liz Van Brunt (lvanbrunt@sjeds.org), the program helps students build vocabulary, develop confidence, and explore Spanish-speaking cultures in a welcoming environment.
