Chapel
Chapel is a cherished tradition and a cornerstone of our spiritual life at the Day School. Once a week, San Jose students and families gather in the church for a Eucharist service that invites prayer, reflection, and joyful celebration. This weekly gathering is more than a ritual; it is a living expression of our shared faith, identity, and commitment to spiritual growth.
All students in first through sixth grade participate in the full service, which includes scripture, music, and Holy Communion, led by Father Steph Britt, an ordained Episcopal priest. In the Episcopal tradition of the open table, all are welcome to come forward during communion. Students may choose to receive the bread and wine or a blessing, honoring each family's practice and faith journey.
This sacred time together embodies the inclusive and welcoming spirit of our school. Chapel is thoughtfully designed to engage students at every age and stage, honoring the rich diversity within our community while grounding us in the Episcopal tradition. Coming together in this sacred space each week nurtures a deep sense of connection, belonging, and peace.
Parents, alumni, parishioners, and guests are always invited to join us. We especially encourage prospective families to experience a Eucharist service, one of the most beloved and meaningful expressions of who we are.
School Prayer
Holy Spirit, Lord of love,
Come to our school today.
Work with us and play with us
And hear us when we pray.
Show us how to follow Christ,
In all we think and say and do.
For he was once a child like us,
And all our cares and joys he knew.
Amen.
