Technology Integration
Technology is integrated throughout daily life at SJEDS. Lower School students engage with technology in an age-appropriate manner through educational apps on portable devices and interactive lessons on ViewSonic screens or Smart Boards. Upper School students use their devices as essential learning tools for research, writing, and engaging with online educational content. Students of all ages receive dedicated "Tech Hub" sessions in the Library Media Center, where they get the opportunity to grow their technological skills.
The school maintains a large inventory of portable devices, including iPads and Chromebooks, available for use by all. Classrooms are equipped with interactive ViewSonic screens or Smart Boards, document cameras, and laptop/iPad stations, supporting an interactive and multimedia-rich learning environment.
At every grade level, students have opportunities to create and share digital content. These projects help students develop their digital content creation skills, solve problems, and effectively communicate their ideas.
Throughout their time at SJEDS, students acquire a wide range of technology skills, including:
- Word processing and digital communication
- Internet research using reliable online resources
- Keyboarding for efficient typing
- Multimedia creation, including digital illustrations, audio, video clips, and interactive presentations
- Database and spreadsheet usage
- Digital storytelling and project-based learning, such as creating tutorial videos and digital presentations
Digital Citizenship and Online Safety
Student safety and well-being are our top priorities. In the context of our Christian environment, we teach digital citizenship from an early age to ensure students are responsible, respectful, and safe online. Our students learn how to:
- Protect personal information and private data
- Treat others with kindness and respect online, just as they would in person
- Understand the distinction between digital "friends" and real-life relationships
- Recognize the impact and consequences of social media use, in an age-appropriate manner
- Manage their digital footprint responsibly

Students have numerous opportunities to create and share digital content. For example, first-grade students may produce digital presentations on bugs, while fourth-grade students might create tutorial videos explaining topics like long division. These projects help students develop their digital content creation skills, solve problems, and effectively communicate their ideas.
