History
San Jose Episcopal Day School (SJEDS) was founded in 1950 as a ministry of Grace Chapel Parish to provide children with a Christ-centered education rooted in spiritual growth, academic excellence, and the development of each child’s unique gifts.
What began with a single kindergarten class has grown into a thriving community of 220 students in Pre-K3 through sixth grade, where small class sizes, servant leadership, and a commitment to diversity reflect the school’s enduring Episcopal identity.
Located in the heart of Jacksonville’s historic San Jose neighborhood, SJEDS shares its campus with San Jose Episcopal Church. Originally constructed in 1924 as the administrative building for the San Jose Estates Development Company, the church building later became a place of worship through the generosity of Jessie Ball duPont.
Today, SJEDS continues to honor its rich heritage by serving as a dynamic academic institution and a faithful extension of the church’s mission, preparing students for lives of purpose, compassion, and leadership.
