Extended Day

San Jose Episcopal Day School offers a complete extended day program. The children will enjoy a variety of activities, snack, study time, and free play experiences in a relaxed, supervised atmosphere. Extended Day also makes it convenient for children to attend and transition into the after school enrichment programs and clubs. The Extended Day Director coordinates a variety of these after school activities and enrichment clubs. Most enrichment activities are offered here at SJEDS by the school staff and well established off-site organizations. The convenience of these clubs on campus allows for the SJEDS students to participate. The fees vary accordingly to the each program’s requirements. Every child enrolled in SJEDS is welcomed into Extended Day whether they are here on a monthly or occasional basis. The children attending will enjoy an afternoon snack, visit with friends, work on homework, and participate in a variety of age-appropriate enrichment activities. Some of these activities include:

• computer
• brain and logic games
• arts and crafts
• music and movement
• puppetry
• books
• block, lego, and domino building
• nostalgic games like playing card games, dice games, and dominoes

Each day a study hall is provided for students in first through sixth grade. This time allows students to do homework and participate in games designed to enrich their learning experiences. The children are also given the opportunity to play outside with their age appropriate peers in a structured, safe, and fun environment. The staff of the Extended Day Program understands and supports the philosophy that children need time to work but they also need time to play. The Extended Day Program staff provides both in a caring environment.

Terrifically Enriched Tuesdays (2nd Tuesday of each month)

The second Tuesday of each month will be a half day. The children will be dismissed at noon. Extended Day will be open until 6:00 p.m. This is for the convenience of those parents who need Extended Day on a monthly and occasional basis. There will be a variety of optional enrichment clubs offered for children to sign up to participate. Charges for each club will vary according to leader’s cost and supplies needed. All children in Extended Day will arrive at noon and have lunch before attending a club or participating in the fun activities planned for Extended Day.

After School Clubs

There are a wide variety of clubs offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays by teachers, resource teachers, and off site vendors. The off site organizations conduct their enrichment activities on the SJEDS campus. This makes it convenient for the children signed up for these activities. They may stay in Extended Day from 3:00 – 3:30 at no extra charge. Each club will vary in price. Parents will sign up at the sjeds.org website and make all checks payable to SJEDS.
